Iron Entry Doors And Gates Going In The Garbage

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

I would not want to throw away iron entry doors and iron gates like the guy next door just did. I guess that he wanted to change the look of his house on the outside and removed everything from before and was starting with a clean slate. I remember when the previous owners of that house had those doors and gates installed just four years ago and how much it had improved the curb appeal of it then.

I had even watched as four more houses on our block had also had iron entry doors and iron gates put in right after that. I could not afford it at the time and since everyone else seemed like they were going to do it, my husband did not want it to look like we were copying all of them.

I had secretly still always wanted the wrought iron doors and gates but knew that he would never go for it. I wonder though, that since there is one less house on the block now with them and we could probably even buy the ones that the neighbor is going to just throw away for really cheap, if he would go for it now.

I Was Hired By An Interior Painting Company

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

I was hired by an interior painting company and love my new job. I work great hours and work with some really nice people. I figured that they would make me do all of the hard jobs, since I was new but that is not the case. In fact, it seems that the owner takes the more challenging jobs and gives the rest to his employees.

The interior painting company foreman says that the owner takes the harder jobs so that he knows that they are done properly and if there are any complaints, he handles them himself. I think that he is very smart to do business that way.

This particular painting company has been in business for approximately thirty years and I can see why that is. The owners treat their employees with respect and they go above and beyond for their clients. I heard one customer say that she has seen many other companies come and go but this painting company is here to stay.

I plan on working for this interior painting company for a very long time. I hope that they are around for at least another thirty years, or at least till I can retire.

Installing Efficient Vinyl Windows Saves Money

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

The fantastic energy efficient vinyl windows that we had put in our house this spring are paying off. We had lived with the old windows for too long and I think that our money was going right out those windows when we had to use the furnace or the air conditioning. It just never seemed to be warm enough or cold enough in the house. That was when I decided to get the estimate for the new efficient vinyl windows.

My husband never even sees the heating and cooling bills, so he had no idea how much we were spending prior to the new windows. Our old windows were wood windows and they did not shut right and most of them did not even have locks that worked properly. I knew that this was not safe either.

The estimate to remove the old wood windows and put in the efficient vinyl windows was about five hundred dollars less than what I had budgeted for. I remember being so happy about the fact that I was getting new windows. It was probably a little strange, but I had wanted them for a long time.

I have noticed about a forty percent drop in our energy bills. I would say that after about two years of saving on the heating and cooling bills, we will have paid for our new efficient vinyl windows.

I Was Impressed With The Chicago Remodeling Company

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

I was very impressed with the Colorado remodeling company that put the new addition onto my neighbor’s house. They were not like any other remodeling company I have ever seen. They never started any loud project before nine in the morning, to be courteous to the homeowner and the neighbors and I noticed that they always addressed the neighbors as Mr. and Mrs. Baker. They were there for over three weeks doing the job and I never heard them make too much noise that was not necessary.

That same Colorado remodeling company also was hired by the neighbors down the street because they got such high marks from the Bakers. I am not looking to add on any rooms but I am thinking of calling them to see if they can install new vinyl replacement windows in my entire house. Since they would have to work in virtually every room in the house, I want to hire a company that is courteous and quiet.

Once the vinyl replacement windows are installed, I am hoping that my heating and cooling bills will start to decrease. My current windows are very old and are probably original to the house. If I can save money, increase the curb appeal and value to my house, and hire a really good remodeling company to do it, it is a win- win situation.

Minnesota Deck Company Is Easy To Work With

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

The last time that I had a company come out and gave me any kind of estimate was a Minnesota deck company that also did a bunch of other things. I had them walk around the house and give me written estimates on everything they could see that I needed to have done. I knew that I could not afford to have the Minnesota deck company do all of the work at that time, but I was going to try and get to all of it in good time.

It has come to the point where I just call them and name off the next thing on the list and they come out and do it. I pay for it, and then start saving for the next thing that is on the list. I do not know of any other Minnesota remodeling company that would allow their clients to do that. I have told my neighbors about the deal I have with the Minnesota deck company and they are impressed that there is a company out there that would do that.

It shows me that they really care about their customers and they understand that not everyone has the funds handy to just get everything done right away. If there are any other Minnesota remodeling companies out there like that, I have never heard of them.

We Bought Great Bathroom Cabinetry In Clearwater FL

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

My father just bought a new house in Florida and I went to visit him a few months ago. He was in the process of doing some remodeling and I rode along to some different companies to help him price things out.

My father and I went and found some bathroom cabinetry in Clearwater FL and had a hard time choosing between all the different colors and designs. We just finally told the owner of the bathroom cabinetry in Clearwater FL store, to choose what he thought would look the best with the color of paint that my father had picked out. He ended up getting a really nice cherry cabinet in his bathroom.

When we had picked out everything for the bathroom that day, it was time to start on some things for the kitchen. We found a website by searching Pinellas County FL kitchen cabinets. Of course, we had so many choices that it took us a while to make our final decisions. The Pinellas County FL website was very helpful with helping us to choose just the right kitchen cabinets. Once we had found what we wanted, we took a trip to their showroom to take some measurements to them and get all the prices of what it would cost for installation of the new kitchen cabinets.

Dad loves all the changes that he made, and I am just happy that I got to help him make the bathroom and kitchen cabinetry choices.

Power Washing The Sidewalks Was Smart

Saturday, September 26th, 2009

I do not know which company did the concrete cleaning downtown, but I have never seen the sidewalks look so good. There is no more irrigation rust, or gum anywhere on them now and that seemed to be what they were made of before. The color is shockingly not orange with black spots. I am glad that they finally did it though, but keeping them clean may be a difficult thing to do too.

I remember when we had our deck power washing done last year and then my husband spilled a big can of white paint on it. It looked good for about two months and now it looks horrible. We do not have the money to pay to have the power washing company come out again until next spring so we just have to live with it until then.

I would think that the city will work in a concrete cleaning every few years now that they see how nice it can look. I hope that they never let it get as bad as it was before. They need to maintain, and then the cleanings will probably not cost them as much either. This first cleaning must have cost them a fortune, because it was not a quick fix.

Advantage of Replacement Windows and the Energy Tax Rebate

Wednesday, September 2nd, 2009

I could not believe what I was seeing one day when my neighbors were having replacement windows put in. I had never seen them do anything to the house since they moved in about ten years ago. I walked over and asked the contractor how long it was going to take to put in all of the new replacement windows.

He explained that it would probably only take a couple of days. I asked him if the homeowner was home and he said that she was out. I told him that I was happy to see how the house was looking. He said that the homeowner only decided to have the replacement windows put in when she learned of the energy tax rebate that was being offered by the government.

I had never heard of it so I had him explain it to me. I figured that I had taken up enough of his time and walked back home. The company was back the next day to finish up and I saw my neighbor out walking her dog. I stopped her and told her how nice the house was coming along. She thanked me for noticing all the work she was having done. I told her that the contractor had explained the energy tax credit to me and that it was a great thing to take advantage of.
